Sandro GOZI elected Chairman of the European Parliament’s Permanent Delegation to the EU-UK Parliamentary Assembly

3 October 2024 – Sandro Gozi, Renew Europe MEP and Secretary General of the European Democrat Party, was today elected Chairman of the Parliamentary Delegation on the European Union’s Partnership with the United Kingdom.

Heading the joint committee of 35 MEPsand 35 UK MPs, Sandro Gozi will be responsible for EU-UK relations and negotiations on the many issues between the two institutions, starting with the crucial questions arising from Brexit.

‘EU-UK relations are entering a new political phase with the arrival of Keir Starmer at Downing Street and the start of the new von der Leyen Commission. As chairman, my intention is to work with the EU-UK Parliamentary Committee to promote and intensify dialogue and cooperation between the two sides of the Channel, with proposals that we could already put forward ahead of the first EU-UK summit announced for early 2025,’ Gozi said.
